Consists of correspondence, notes, illustrations, mock-ups, drafts, and book reviews of seven books: Alberic the Wise and Other Journeys (1965), As: A Surfeit of Similes (1989), The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower Mathematics (1963), The Hello, Goodbye Window (2005), Otter Nonsense (1982), The Phantom Tollbooth (1961), Stark Naked (1969). Also includes original artwork by Eric Carle, Chris Raschka, and Jules Feiffer. Audio/visual materials contain demo tapes and the final production of The Phantom Tollbooth opera.

His picture book The Very Hungry Caterpillar has been translated into more than 66 languages and sold more than 50 million copies. Carle was born on June 25, 1929, in Syracuse, New York.
